Safety Patrol Training

The 5th graders are officially ready to help at Safety Patrol. Thanks to the Omaha Police Department for getting us ready to go!

Boys Town Social Skills (Having a Conversation) using Skittles!

 We are working on various Boys Town Social Skills. Today our skill was "Having a Conversation" and the appropriate steps to that. The steps we discussed were:

1. Look at the person. (not to be tempted by the Skittles :))

2. Use a pleasant voice.

3. Listen to what the other person says.

4. Ask a question or share a thought about what the partner said.

The students did a get to know you activity with a partner using Skittles.

We spent a majority of the first day getting ourselves organized! The room looked crazy at first, but now we are organized and ready to roll!

Thank you to all those that were able to attend Back-to-School Night! It was great to put faces to names! Please take the time to go through the materials in the blue folder. The items that need to be completed and returned are on the left and the papers for you to keep at home are on the right! Remember to send the blue folder back as we will be using it for Guided Reading throughout the year. Make sure to activate your Edline account. Edline is our online grading program. This will be explained in more detail next week to the students and to the parents at Curriculum Night on August 29th.
